Terms and conditions

OFFICIAL RULES OF REMAN CHALLENGE 

(Hereinafter "Official Rules") 

 

Before participating in the Reman Challenge, you should read the Official Rules in their entirety. By registering, you unconditionally agree and accept all the terms and conditions of these Official Rules. 

 

REMAN CHALLENGE

Reman Challenge (hereinafter the "Competition") is a competition organized by BORG Automotive A/S (hereinafter "BORG”), located at Funder Dalgårdsvej 12, 8600 Silkeborg, Denmark.

The aim of the Competition is to increase the collaboration between BORG and the academic environment, by bringing the attention of students to the impact of the current automotive trends on the remanufacturing industry.  

The participation is free of charge 

 

 PARTICIPANTS

REMAN CHALLENGE is a Competition for B.Sc, M.Sc and Phd students which satisfy the conditions set up below (hereinafter the “Participant(s)”). 

Students must be eighteen (18) years of age or older to participate.  

All members of the Teams must have a valid academic e-mail address. 

BORG reserves the right to check the correctness of the registration information submitted by Participants at any stage during the Competition and to ask for copies of ID documents and/or student cards from the school or university cited by the Participants. BORG also reserves the right to refuse participation or to disqualify at any time during the Competition, without justifying it to the Participants (and their Teams). Submitting incorrect or misleading information will lead to refusing or disqualification of participation.   

 

TEAMS 

The Participants must compose a team of up to three (3) students. 

Participants are only allowed to register in one team. 

The members of a team must be studying at the same university (hereinafter the “Team”). If a Participant changes university during the Competition, he or she will still be registered under the starting university. 

It is not possible to modify the composition of the Team after registration.   

 

 

DELIVERABLES SPECIFICATIONS 

 All the deliverables (hereinafter the “Report(s)”) must be done in English and sent as PDF. 

   

COMPETITION DETAILS 

The Competition will start on October 23d , 2024 with the closing of the registration process, and it will end on December 20st, 2024. Only the top three teams will be involved in Step 4.  

 

STEPS 

 

1) Online Registration deadline - October 22 2024

 

2) Part 1 submission - November 19th 2024

3) Part 2 submission - December 11th 2024

 

4) Final online presentation - December 20st 2024

 

Step 4 : date is indicative, being subject to the availabilities of the participants. 

 

Step 1: Online registration 

For registration please register online via the official website www.remanchallenge.eu  or write to mjer@be.borgautomotive.com with the following information: 

  • Name, surname and academic email address for all the team members 

  • Academic staff reference name/surname and his/her email contact (optional)

  • The Team acceptance of the Official Rules 

 

Participants with winter semester starting later than October 2nd, 2024 can register until October 30th, 2024. 

Participants can consider their registration effective, only upon reception of confirmation from mjer@be.borgautomotive.com

 

After the registration Participants will: 

  • Be invited to attend a Webinar introducing Remanufacturing and supporting the Report preparation  

  • Receive research material concerning remanufacturing 

 

Step 2: Part 1 submission 

In the 1st part of the challenge, students will compile a detailed report summarizing the characteristics and challenges of reverse logistics. 

To be admitted to the jury assessment, the teams must send the Part 1 Report by email (max 12 pages) to mjer@be.borgautomotive.com 

The jury of the Part 1 Report consists of three people from BORG Staff, from Business Development dept.

Step 3: Part 2 submission: 

In the 2nd part of the challenge, given the advancements identified, students will present at least two actionable recommendations on how BORG Automotive can capitalize on these innovations to improve health and safety practices. 

To be admitted to the jury assessment, the teams must send the Part 2 Report by email (max 13 pages) to mjer@be.borgautomotive.com

The jury of the Part 1 Report consists of three people from BORG Staff, from Business Development dept. 

 

Stage 4: Final online presentation

The top 3 teams will have the opportunity to present their work in front of the BORG management.  

The Teams will be invited to pitch the main outline of their work through a maximum of 20 (twenty) minutes presentation. 

The presentations must be sent in advance to mjer@be.borgautomotive.com to allow the diffusion to the attendees.   

 

JUDGING CRITERIA FOR REMAN CHALLENGE 

 The Reports will be evaluated on a scale from 1 to 100, based on the respective following criteria:

  • ​After the assessment of Part 1, a first ranking will be published. Part 1 accounts for 30% of the total evaluation

  • After the assessment of Part 2, the top 3 teams will be announced. Part 2 accounts for 50% of the total evaluation.

  • The winning team will be announced following the final presentations. Final presentation account for 20% of the total evaluation.

Only Top 3 teams get evaluated on the final presentations. For the rest of the teams, evaluations are based solely on part 1 (30%) and part 2 (70%).

The final ranking is generated from the sum of the scores obtained in each Part and during the final presentation. 

To smoothen the discrepancies between B.Sc./ M.Sc. / Ph.D. students, a weight has been introduced to multiply the overall result: 

  • If the highest education level in the group is PhD, weight factor on evaluation is 1 

  • If M.Sc., weight factor is 1.1 

  • If B.Sc., weight factor is 1.2 

 

AWARD 

All participants submitting both Reports will receive a certification proofing their participation to the Reman Challenge and the expected knowledge developed throughout the performed work.  

Participants from top 3 Teams will have: 

  • Praise in the certification for the valuable result achieved. 

  • Recommendation letter for any open position within the BORG Group. 

  • An arranged presentation of their work with BORG Management 

  • An award of 600 € for the whole team 

Participants from the 2nd classified team will have: 

  • Praise in the certification for the valuable result achieved. 

  • Recommendation letter for any open position within the BORG Group. 

  • An arranged presentation of their work with BORG Management 

  • An award of 1,200 € for the whole team 

Participants from the 1st classified team will have: 

  • Praise in the certification for the valuable result achieved. 

  • Recommendation letter for any open position within the BORG Group. 

  • An arranged presentation of their work with BORG Management 

  • An award of 2,400 € for the whole team  

The award is not recognized in case the students are not attending Stage 4 presentation.  

The award amount is for the whole team, to be evenly divided according to the number of participants in the team.  

 

PARTICIPATION AND INTERNSHIPS 

At any step of the Competition, Participants can be offered an internship in a division of the BORG Group. 

Interns, trainees, employees etc. in the BORG group cannot be a part of any teams participating in the challenge.  

Participation in the Competition cannot in any way be deemed to give rise to any contractual relations with BORG or any of its affiliates and any employment rights.  

 

BORG SUPPORT 

The Business Development Department (NBD) is responsible for the organization of the Competition. The business development advisor will be the direct contact person and information provider for the Participants and/or the Teams. She can be contacted at the address: mjer@be.borgautomotive.com .  

Contacting other person from the staff bypassing the main contact is not welcome.  

 

 

INVOLVEMENT OF THE MEDIA 

Participants and/or Teams are prohibited from any direct and/or indirect contact with the media regarding the content of the challenge, except if authorized by the NBDM. 

 

DISQUALIFICATION 

BORG may, at its sole discretion, disqualify a Team and/or any of the Team members from participating if the Team or any of the Team members show disregard for the Official Rules or act in any unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. In the event of any suspected fraud and/or unfair participation, BORG reserves the right to conduct any such verification, as it may deem necessary. Any established fraud or unfair action shall entail the Participant’s immediate and final disqualification, without prior notice. BORG may exclude any Team and/or any of the Team members if the Team or any of the Team members intends to damage any REMAN CHALLENGE material or information.  

Missing one of the submissions deadlines (Step 2 & 3) will lead to disqualification of the team. 

 

PERSONAL DATA 

In accordance with the applicable laws and regulations on personal data, the personal data collected are treated according to the legal policy and for purposes of managing the Participant’s participation in the Competition. 

Changes or delete of data are possible by communicating it to the same email address. This information will be stored for a maximum of one [1] year commencing on the Competition termination day.  

Only the persons authorized by BORG can access the personal data of the Participants for the purposes mentioned above. 

Participants exercising the right to delete their personal data prior to the end of the Competition shall be deemed to have waived and withdrawn their right to participation.    

 

CONFIDENTIALITY OBLIGATION 

During the Competition, the Team members might have access to information and know-how of all kinds provided by BORG. In particular; commercial, financial, scientific, industrial or marketing, concerning the activities, operations and studies of BORG Group or of one or more companies with whom BORG have or have had relations or in which they have an interest. The Team members might also have access to information concerning natural persons who are members of the companies referred above (hereinafter the "Information”). The Team members must take the necessary measures to keep the Information strictly confidential, except for already public information. 

The Team members accept that disclosure of the Information could cause the BORG Group considerable damage allowing the local BORG affiliate or BORG to demand compensation of their loss. The confidentiality obligation will survive also after the end of the Competition.    

 

RIGHTS’ ASSIGNMENT 

The Competition is organized by the BORG Business Development Department and it is exclusively designed for an exchange with the student world. As the projects are built from BORG ideas and as similar development may be currently under progress, all concepts communicated by Teams and Team members during the Competition shall not be considered to give rise to intellectual property rights. Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the event where the items submitted give rise to any intellectual property rights, the Participants will assign to BORG, which accepts, all rights of reproduction, representation, adaptation or translation attached to the items (designs, slogans, models etc.), on all support medias including those which are unknown on the date of the Competition, for all purposes of internal or external communications, promotional and advertising purposes, for the legal duration of the intellectual property right, for the entire world, without any limitation. 

This assignment of rights will be granted and accepted free of charge. 

You hereby expressly declare that you hold all rights and all necessary authorizations required for submission by BORG of the rights assigned hereby.  

BORG has the rights to use the research findings and data.  

 

AUTHORISATION TO USE THE PARTICIPANTS’ IMAGE 

For the purposes of the Competition, as a Participant, you hereby expressly and free of charge authorize BORG to: reproduce, represent, modify, adapt, transfer and distribute your image in connection with the Competition for all purposes of internal or external communications, including corporate communication, as well as for all public & press relations purposes, and for all commercial, promotional and advertising purposes, on all support medias including those which are unknown on the date of the Competition. 

This authorization is granted free of charge commencing from the date of first use of the Participant’s image for a five (5) years term commencing on the date of first use of the Participant’s image. 

It is understood that communication materials reproducing Participants’ image may be difficult to remove from the BORG social media channels and sharing websites, and Participants agree that such communication materials may remain on social media channels and sharing websites as they were originally posted provided that after the 5 years term, BORG shall not repost or authorize others to repost such materials. 

The term “image” is understood as referring to the full set of attributes of the Participant’s personality, including but not limited to his/her image, voice, family name and forenames, signature, capacities stemming from his/her professional activities and his/her professional designation(s). 

You hereby expressly declare that you hold all rights and all necessary authorizations required for the submission by BORG of the rights assigned hereby.  

  

CLAIMS 

Any disputes, questions and/or claims relating to the Competition must be received at the latest within thirty (30) days of the date at which the winning Team has been announced.  

The dispute, questions and/or claims must be sent in English to BORG AUTOMOTIVE A/S by registered mail with acknowledgement of receipt at the following address: BORG AUTOMOTIVE A/S, Funder Dalgårdsvej 12, 8600 Silkeborg, Denmark.

Upon receipt, the REMAN CHALLENGE committee will meet and reply within one (1) month of receipt. Any decision of the committee shall be binding and final and no Participant shall have any further right to recourse or to appeal. 

These rules are governed by Danish law and all disputes arising from the competition will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent Danish courts. 

 

AMENDMENT OF THE RULES 

BORG may be required to amend these rules inter alia to comply with any new legislation and/or applicable regulations. 

Any amendment will be communicated to the Participants within fifteen (15) days. 

If any clauses in the Official Rules are declared null or void, it shall have no impact on the validity of the other clauses in the Official Rules.  

 

MISCELLANEOUS 

The original rules of this Competition is in the custody of BORG AUTOMOTIVE A/S, Funder Dalgårdsvej 12, 8600 Silkeborg, Denmark and will be the sole valid set of rules. 

BORG reserves the right to shorten, modify, or cancel the Competition, without the Teams and/or Team member being able to claim compensation thereof.  

REMAN CHALLENGE, its concepts, content, look-and-feel, logo and all other graphic elements and organization are and will remain the sole property of BORG. 

BORG is not responsible for errors in the entries of Teams and Team members, incorrect e-mail addresses, or connection problems related to the Competition.
