When the workshop changes, remanufacturing has to change with it

 

​Most cars entering an independent garage today still have an engine, and will for years to come. But the vehicles being sold now are the vehicles that will arrive in workshops tomorrow: more electric, far more electronic, and dependent on software and data to be repaired at all.

Independent garages are where every part we remanufacture ends its journey. When their work changes, ours has to change too.

PART 1 — UNDERSTAND THE FUTURE 

Investigate how the European independent workshop will change over the next five to ten years. 

Select the three to five shifts you judge most consequential and build the case for each: what is changing and why, the evidence behind it, which garage segments it hits hardest, and what it does to a workshop's daily operations, investment needs and revenue mix.

Timing is part of the answer. Tell us when each change actually arrives, market by market, and what evidence supports your view.

PART 2 — TAKE ACTION

As vehicles change, so does what we remanufacture. Tomorrow's failures will sit in electric motors, inverters, DC-DC converters, electric steering racks, electric compressors and thermal management units. 

These parts are not like the ones before them. They carry software. They may need coding or pairing to a specific vehicle. They require high-voltage safety procedures to install and to return. When they fail, the cause may not be mechanical at all.

 

For these products, what must a remanufacturer sell beyond the part itself?

 

Deliverables: A written proposal covering every element you would put around the part and bring your proposal to life with the materials you would actually need to launch it for example sales sheet, the screens of the tool, the box insert, the training module, the landing page....
