Unlocking the power of AI for circular industries' development â€‹

The Reman Challenge is a competition divided in two parts.

Part 1: INSPIRE

In Part 1, students will research and select 3 existing AI use cases from industrial environments. Choose examples that demonstrate a clear, measurable impact (for instance on quality, sales volume, cost, energy, safety, or COâ‚‚) and that could reasonably inspire an independent remanufacturer.

For each selected use case, explain the problem it addressed, the approach at a high level, the data required and how it was integrated into the process, the results achieved on concrete KPIs, and any limits or risks. Conclude with a short impact assessment that states why this use case matters, how transferable it is to remanufacturing.

Part 2: TAKE ACTION

In Part 2, students will be presented with three departments (Supply Chain, Purchasing and customer service), along with their current activities and specific challenges.

Their mission is to spot a meaningful opportunities where AI can improve operations and to propose a solution for remanufacturing. Students will describe clearly who will use it, how it fits into the current workflow, what data or systems it needs, and what outcomes they expect. The proposal must be realistic to implement with accessible tools and data and scalable across remanufacturing activities. The solution will also include a prototype to make the idea tangible. The prototype can be a simple online drawing or clickable mock-up, a small maquette, a brief demo video, or any concise artifact that shows how the solution would work end-to-end.

Info-session: Introducing Remanufacturing and the Challenge

Join us for a virtual presentation where you'll gain a deeper understanding of remanufacturing and get introduced to the challenge by the organizers. This informative session will provide you with the opportunity to ask questions and receive all the answers you require.

November 18th

First part submission

Participants will need to prepare and submit the first part of the work. This phase is dedicated to research related to the challenge theme.

December 11th

Second part submission

Participants will need to submit and present the second part of the work. In the second part, the focus shifts to recommendations and solutions. Here, you'll need to present actionable solutions along with a prototype.

December 19th

Presentations - TOP 3 teams

The presentation phase is the culmination of your hard work and innovation. If you've progressed to this stage, it means that you are one of the three best performing teams. You'll have the chance to present your research findings and recommendations to BORG management and win distinction prizes.

Distinction Prizes

All participants submitting the reports will receive a certification proofing their participation to the Reman Challenge and the expected knowledge developed throughout the performed work. The three best performing teams will have the following prizes and recognitions.

Ingénieurs en robotique
